A's colleague oruthar oru party arrange pani, 1 month munaadi invite panaar. adhaan first invite apdinu, naangha polaamnu nenachom. The party was exactly the day when we were supposed to reach US (after our trip to India). we were supposed to reach in the morning, so we thought we could go for this one, scheduled in the evening. engha ketta neram, varappa flight neriya problem aayidichu and we reached 17 hrs late. party light a eduthukitom.

on a lighter note, I imagined how would be the reaction if same thing happened in our country. adhuvum oru nalla panchayathu nadakara gramathula (coimbatore style) ippadi oruthar solli irunthaa badhil epdi vanthu irukum...

Maybe he wasn't being rude, but sollamal vitrukkalam. Perhaps next time while inviting, they can mention "if something comes up and you can't make it, let us know. Because we need to give a correct head count to the caterer". Would have been more dignified.
Btw - got this interesting birthday invitation 2 days ago. Was for a neighborhood kid and the celebration was at Chuck E Cheese - a pizza and games place. The mom is friendly with all the neighborhood women in the school bus stop. Invitation said "RSVP if coming. Please note that food will be provided only for the kids".
LOL! Did a double take at sentence #2....enna, can't they order 1 more pizza if there are a couple of adults around? indha madhiri invitation-kku Coimbatore-style replydhaan kudukkaNum :D
